Obituary for Alexander English

Alexander English was born on May 16, 1938 to the late Atlas English and Annie Peoples English, in Uriah, Alabama. He departed this life on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Doctor’s Community Medical Center in Lanham, MD.
The youngest of ten siblings and affectionately known to his family as “Buddy”, he was educated in the Uriah and Mobile, Alabama public-school systems. Alexander would later serve his country in the United States Air Force before attending Howard University and earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Alexander retired after enjoying a long and successful career with the Department of the Army serving in variety of accounting and financial management positions.
While living in Pennsylvania, he met the love of his life, the former Annie Mae Everson in 1966. They were married until her death in 2006 and to this union three children were born: Pamela Renee’, Eric and Derrick. After living in Washington DC, they chose to make their home and raise their children in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where he has resided for 50 years.
Alexander joined the First Baptist Church of Glenarden where he attended until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He remained faithful to his commitment to worship and pray. His faith was unshaken, and he ALWAYS walked by faith and not by sight. He often referenced his favorite scripture 2nd Corinthians 5:7 and reflected upon the goodness of God through his period of illness. Through his life, he was a role model within both the English and Everson families. As the remaining sibling, Alexander was the patriarch of the English family and was often sought after for his wisdom and balanced advice.
In his community, Alexander was devoted and dependable neighbor. While mid mannered, his friends knew him as a skilled and serious card player. But most importantly, he was family-oriented man, who loved and cherished his wife and children. His fatherly guidance and commitment extended to his nephews and nieces who also benefited greatly from his attention and guidance.
He leaves to mourn daughter Pamela Renee’ English.; sons Eric and Derrick English, devoted best friend and cousin Freddie Wright (Regina Hansend), a host of devoted nieces and nephews, several sisters and brothers in law, as well as a number of cousins and friends.
