On Monday, January 30, 2023, at Stoddard Baptist Global Care Charles Stanberry Payne Jr. closed his eyes, took a shallowed breath and entered into eternal rest.

Charles was the oldest of five children born to the late Charles S. Payne, Sr. and Phame L. Payne. He was educated in the Westmoreland County, VA Public School System and the Prince George’s County, MD Public School System. He gave his life to Christ at an early age while attending New Monrovia Baptist Church, Monroe Hall, VA. The family relocated to the Washington D.C. area where he worked and remained until his death.

Charles was a passionate cook for two local restaurants: Ted’s Family Fish House, Capital Heights, MD and Blue and White Carry-Out, Alexandria, VA. He started a Handyman Service where he specialized in Interior Painting, Lawn Service, Car Detailing and he was the Grill Master for many outdoor events. Charles was a fun- loving guy, he had a heart of gold and would help anyone. Like his father, he never met a stranger and never forgot your name and where he met a person. He was the kind of person that was a Friend For Life.

His Mother, Father and sister Charlene Z. Payne preceded him in death. Charles leaves his children to cherish his memory, Travell Williams, Tashica Bellamy, Charles S. Payne III, and Sharron Williams, mothers’ of his children; Jean Williams (preceded him in death), Tawanda Bellamy, and Wanda Adams, sisters; Ann Y. Washington, Rev. Frenchettia C. Payne, brother; Roderick D. Payne, uncle; Pastor Quentin A. Smith (Sylvia), grandchildren; Kevon, TaKira, Charles IV, SaHara, and Jesse. He will be missed by nieces and nephews, Kenneth Washington, Charon Dagley, Charnice Dagley, Ameshiaha, Qwaisha, Quannise, Chemiere, Roderick Jr., Dijor & Dijon Payne and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.
