David Errol McNeil the son of the late Ernest and Margaret Deloris McNeil, was born August 26, 1954 in Wilmington North Carolina. He departed this life peacefully on November 7, 2022 at Fort Washington Health and Rehab, in Fort Washington, MD.

In his early years in Wilmington, he attended St. Stephens A.M.E Church where he was baptized. He later joined ST Mark's Episcopal church where he was confirmed under the Reverend Doctor Edwin E. Kirton and served as an Acolyte.

He was educated in the North Carolina and Maryland School systems. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and other sports in his youth. He also enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins games and other sports with family and friends. David enjoyed going to the Washington Wizards Game with his daughter Tiffany Ann McNeil.

He served proudly in the United States Air Force . He was employed at the Washington Suburban and Sanitation Commission. He worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime. Landscaping was a passion for him, until his health became an issue.

David was affectionately known as “Sparkey” by his family and many who knew and loved him. He was an intelligent and wise man, full of wisdom and was quick to share it with you.

David lived on the streets of DC for 14 years and met a lot of friends and acquaintances. One of which was Tamera (Tammy) Wilkerson, and from this union came their daughter, Tiffany Ann McNeil. “The Joy of his life”. In 2007, Pastor Vermadean Green of Healing The Broken In Heart Ministry helped David to Rededicate his Life to Christ. This was an answer to his mother’s prayers.

He was preceded in death by his Beloved Wife Angie McCock, whom he married on July 23, 2016. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to her home country of Jamaica. Their Pastor was Bishop Ebelechukwu Elochukwu, where they attended his church, The Soldiers of Jesus Christ, faithfully until her death in April of 2020. Bishop Ebelechukwu was an ever present brother in David’s life. They had a special bond – the Bishop always said “he is my brother”. Unfortunately, the Bishop had to return home to Nigeria on businesss, and cannot be at David’s service physically, but we know he will be there spiritually.

David was also a member of “Healing The Broken in Heart Ministry” pastored by Reverend George Green, and along with his wife, Mother Vermadean, who were also instrumental on David’s spiritual journey. We give thanks to God for placing these wonderful ministers of His Word on David’s path.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Tiffany McNeil, her Mother (Tammy) of Washington D.C. (one sister) Sandra (Henry) Spool of Wilmington, N.C Five brothers, Ernest (Kazuko) McNeil, of Temple Hills MD. James(Coline) McNeil of Sacramento CA., Fred (Geena) McNeil of Accokeek MD., Ronald (Patricia) McNeil of FT Washington MD., John ( Carlethea) Fort Washington Md. A sister in-law, Sonia Cormack of Washington, DC. Aunts - Annie C. Richardson of Oxon Hill MD. Edna McNeil and Doris McNeil of Wilmington North Carolina. He also leaves a host of cousins ,nieces, nephews and friends.

David’s Favorite Scipture was Psalm 91, which he would recite with such fire and conviction at our Sunday evening family prayer meetings. We will miss that, it was a highlight of our meeting.

David will always be remembered for his strong faith in God, for his valiant and courageous spirit, who faced each medical challenge with strength and God's Grace. To quote two of his favorite expressions that lasted with him to the end was “I am blessed and highly favored and To God be the Glory. AMEN

Tomorrow
When tomorrow starts without me
and I'm not here to see...
If the sun should rise and find your
eyes filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today...
While thinking of the many things
we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you...
And each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me, too.
But when tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand...
That Jesus came and called my name
and took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready
in heaven far above...
And that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart...
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart.
