Obituary for Desiree A. Graves (Allen)

Desireé A. Graves (80) residing in Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, on September 7, 2022, from complications due to dementia.

Born to William “Winny” and Edith (Minor) Allen, in Washington, D.C. Desireé graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Speech & Elementary Education, from D.C. Teachers College, now called the University of D.C., in 1963, and a Master of Science in Educational Supervision from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Desireé and Major Odell W. Graves (Ret) had three remarkable children, Kimberlee, Michelle, and Odell A. She lived a full life, often enjoying time with her Sorority Sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Our Lady of Grace Sodality at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and most importantly with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents and Odell Harrison (grandson), Desireé is survived by her three children, Kimberlee (and Terance) Proctor, Michelle Player, and Odell (and Erika) Graves; her brother William (and Geri) Allen; her sister, Ana Maria Allen; eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; a niece, Donna (and Kenny) Peebles; nephew, Jonathan (and Katie) Allen; five grandnieces and grandnephews, and numerous cousins nationwide.

The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro, MD, at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, for an 11 a.m. Funeral Service. Flowers may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2020 St Joseph Dr., Upper Marlboro, MD 20774.

Flowers can be sent to St. Joseph's Church for delivery on the day of the service.
