OBITUARY

ECCLESSIATES 3:1-4 (KJV)

TO EVERY THING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER THE HEAVEN.
A TIME TO BE BORN, AND A TIME TO DIE, A TIME PLANT, AND A TIME TO PLUCK UP THAT WHICH IS PLANTED…A TIME TO BREAK DOWN AND A TIME TO BUILD UP; A TIME TO WEEP AND A TIME TO LAUGH, A TIME TO MOURN, AND A TIME DANCE.

A TIME TO BE BORN and A TIME TO BUILD UP

On December 20, 1953, in Washington DC, the late Gilbert E. D. and Ambritt Marina Pryor, were blessed with their third son, Gary Allen, out of nine children. January 22, 1989, Gary was Baptized and received the Right Hand of Fellowship at Second Baptist Church, Washington DC.

A TIME TO LEARN and A TIME TO REAP

Gary attended Maury Elementary School, Maryland Park Junior High School and, Central Senior High School, where he graduated in 1973. Gary went on to attend Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association where he received a Certificate for Construction Craft Maintenance in 1990. He later taught himself HVAC repair—which he was very proud of, and went on to obtain formal training at ESCO Institute in 1993, where he received his HVAC Technician Certification.

Gary started out working as a messenger for the law firm of Freedman, Levy, Kroll and Simonds for almost 10-years and when he became interested in doing maintenance, he left to work with Eagle Maintenance Contractors; the National Park Service, J&L Contracting, Bru-Joy Electrical Company, and Parkland Apartments—which was his last job until he got sick. Gary loved working in the field of maintenance and was very good with his hands. He loved repairing and maintaining the exterior and interiors of buildings. Gary was also very good at appliance, electrical & plumbing repairs and was great at repairing HVAC and heating systems, as well as gas welding, soldering, and brazing.

Gary had a great love of music. In his spare time, he was known as SOFT TOUCH and enjoyed DJ-ing for an array of social events with his mixing of the Motown & Philly sounds—the dance floor was always full.

A TIME TO DIE and A TIME TO WEEP

After over a year of courageously going through the challenges of having pancreatic cancer, on Saturday, February 4, 2023, Gary’s family received a call from Georgetown Hospital at 6:36 a.m., that GOD sent his angels to take Gary home.

Gary leaves to cherish his fond memories his children, Gary Allen Pryor Jr., & Jessica Ann Pryor, six grandchildren, Amariana, Amir, Jaidah, Jazmia, Jeremiah, Mahzie & MaKenzie and, a great grandson Kayden; six siblings: Dr. Gilbert E. Pryor/Debra (aka Butchie); Phyllis Pryor Anthony (Gregory), Michael Pryor (aka Mike), Denise Brooks/Ronald (aka Nise), Stephen Pryor/Juanda/ (aka Stevie) & Pamela Andrews-Bondzie (aka Pam).

He had a host of nephews & nieces that he loved and cherished so much: Michael Pryor, Jr., (Lil Mike) Lisa Hatcher, William (Billy) Shields, Kenneth (Kenny) Shields, Patrick Bethea, LaSharn Dozier, Brandi Parks, Bridgette Bondzie, Brook Bondzie, Jimida Cooper, D’Von Pryor, Monica Williams, Dawn Pryor Simpson, Kimberly Horne, Timothy Cohen (Timmy), Stephen Pryor, Jr. (Lil Steve), Brittany Bondzie, and a host of other great nephews & nieces, relatives and friends.

His parents, Gilbert & Ambritt Pryor, sisters Carolyn Shields Horne & Jill Yvette Pryor, preceded him in death.

Gary was soft-spoken and a very quiet to-himself person, who always carried himself with dignity and like his father, he personified class in all that he did..

He will be sorely missed by all who experienced his kind and loving spirit!
