The Obituary of

Gloria Deloris Featherson

We have a deep gratefulness having known, loved, and shared in the life of this very special woman, GLORIA DELORIS FEATHERSON.Very quietly and peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the residence of her Godson in Upper Marlboro, MD. God called His servant home to eternal rest after a brief illness. Gloria Deloris Featherson, affectionately known as “Lois” by most who knew her, was born on Monday, October 26, 1936 to the late Thomas Featherson and Annie Gray Finch in Elm City, NC. During Lois’ formative years, her mother, Annie Gray wanting to make a better life for herself and her daughter, relocated to Washington, DC. She entrusted her only child into the care of close family friends, the late James and Maggie Cooper of Rocky Mount, NC. As a result of this relationship, Lois found herself surrounded with much love and extended family. When Lois became a teenager ready for high school, she (joined) her mother and stepfather, the late John D. Miles in Washington, DC. Lois graduated from Cardozo High School in 1953. After high school, she began her employment in the Federal Government. In 1992, she retired from General Services Administration as a Human Resources professional after 30 years of service. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies, which included traveling, cooking, shopping, listening to rhythm and blues music, and always spending much time with family and friends.

Her favorite color was PINK and she loved collecting angels, which for her represented love, faith, strength and protection. Lois loved and lived life fully, always caring and sharing unselfishly with others. Her parents, step-father, sister in love , Dorothy Jean Barge all preceded her in death. Lois leaves a host of family members and friend to cherish her fond memories: Godchildren, Victor (Lena), Lisa (Kevin), Stephanie and Ethan; Sister in love, Glenda Faye and family; a host of cousins and many friends, including Shirley Warren, Shirley Crawford, Martie Meredith, Yvonne Barbour and Blake Biles.
Lois will be greatly missed by all for she touched so many lives.
