Obituary for James Moore Sr.

James Moore, Sr. was born in Blanch, North Carolina on April 10, 1927, to the late Warren and Louise Wilson Moore. He was preceded in death by his loving wife

Ethel Lawson Moore to whom he was married 62 years; two daughters: Judy Maiden and Josephine Dunn; a grandson: Lawrence Dunn, Jr. and eleven siblings: Luella Moore,

Charles Moore, Mary Lownes, Eleanor Moore, Bessie M. Coleman, Jessie Moore,

Whit Roy Moore, Ervin Moore, Dorothy R. Moore, Curtis Moore, and Aaron Moore. He was the third oldest of 14 children.

James was educated in the Caswell County, North Carolina Public School System. He loved working on old cars and trucks; working in the garden and was an avid Nationals baseball fan. He never met a tool he did not love and buy, culminating in a vast collection. If you needed a particular tool, he had it. He worked as a Construction Laborer for 37 years and was a loyal member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 11 for more than 65 years.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his children: James William Moore, Jr. (Alicia), Hilton Moore and Florence Moore; his grandchildren: James Moore, III, Jennifer Moore, Adrian Moore, Lewis Maiden, Malcolm Maiden, Kelli Dunn, Rosemarie Dunn; his great grandchildren: James Moore, IV and Olivia Moore and three siblings: Inettie Banks of Washington DC, Elizabeth Wade of Paterson, NJ, and Dr. Susanna M. Gentry-Bell of Browns Summit, NC, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other family members and friends, and one dedicated niece, Rose L. Thomas, who served her uncle diligently as his special caregiver for several years.
