On July 25, 2022, Janet Archer slipped away to her eternal home of peace. Janet Lee McCollum Archer was born to Nancy McCollum and the late Lee Albert McCollum on July 31, 1963, in Richmond, VA. She was the firstborn of three children, Shelley McCollum and the late Lee Albert McCollum Jr. As a teen, she attended Armstrong Highschool in Richmond, Va. After graduating, Janet fell in love and married the late Melvin Archer. After losing her husband, Janet did not let that bring her down; she kept him in her heart and remained optimistic about life. Janet wanted a fresh start, so she moved to Prince Georges County, Maryland, where she started her career in customer service; she was a popular and gregarious receptionist. Janet kept an open-door policy and was known as the candy lady by all the neighbourhood kids. Janet was always a risk taker; she loved to play BINGO, card games and going to Costco. On September 24, 1997 gave birth to her first and only daughter Bailey Marie Young. Janet was a nurturing mother who would do anything to make her daughter smile—left to cherish her memories are her loving daughter Bailey Young, mother Nancy McCollum, and sisters: Shelley McCollum, Sonja Rogers, D'Anne Smith and N'chelle Israel. All her aunts, uncles, and amazing nieces and nephew that she loved and cared for as her own, alongside all her lifelong friends, partner Arthur Devenish, and her newfound grandson Tyler
