Obituary for Joseph Andrew Banks

Joseph A. Banks the son of the late Ulysees Banks and Frances Banks (formerly known as Frances Robinson) was born on Wednesday December 12, 1950.

He was raised in Savannah, GA where he received his formal education and graduated from Beach High School
In 1968. After high school Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy which is where he started his career in onboard ship communications. Little did he know that his entire career in the Navy as well as his civilian career would revolve around computer communications and information technology. Joseph retired from the Navy in 1991 after serving 24 years (to include enlisted and reserve duties).

Joe was multitalented and had an acting career as well. His acting career resulted in him retiring from the Screen
Actors Guild.
Later in life Joseph became an avid skier (Lifetime member of the Black Ski organization, an avid boater (captained his own boat for 12 years), fisherman and world traveler, (President of the DMV Boaters club).

As the leader of the DMV Boaters Club, Joe orchestrated many international trips and local gatherings which became very successful and famous.

Joseph A. Banks at the age of 71 transitioned into eternal life on Friday May 27, 2022. In addition to his parents, Joe is also preceded in death by his sister Janice James and brother-in-law Willie James. He leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories of him, his devoted wife of 21 years Connette Banks of Mitchellville, MD. His son Joseph A. McIntyre of Alexandria, VA; his brothers Bruce Banks of Adelphi, MD and Ulysees Banks of Washington DC. His sister Frances Banks of Savannah, Ga; his nieces Calandra Banks of Maritta, GA and Wendy Mellerson of Sumpter, SC. Also, his cousin Andre Robinson (Christibel) of Savannah, GA and his cousin Romona Hill (Henry) of Savannah, GA. As well as a host of great nieces and great nephews.
