Obituary for Joseph Elphere Grant

Bishop Joseph E. Grant was born the third child to the late Harold and Norvis Grant on August 27, 1942.
He departed this life on October 27, 2022.

He was raised in Washington, DC and graduated from Cardoza High School in 1961. He started as a civil
servant employee in 1962 and served as a Senior Contract Specialist with the National Cancer Institute,
And Public Health Service, NIOSH from 1974 – 1982. Bishop Grant received several certifications, awards
and certificates before leaving the federal government to start World Outreach Church.

Bishop Grant was a member of Bible Way Church for over 64 years. He personally served as Elder under
Apostle Smallwood E. William, Bible Way Temple for eight years prior to pastoring. Bishop Grant was the
pastor and founder of the World Outreach Church for over 35 years. He was the diocesan of the state of
West Virginia, and the District Bishop of District 3. He was the Executive Secretary of the Washington,
Maryland Diocese and the International Registrar of the Bible Way Church Worldwide. He was also the
conference leader of the council of Pastors of the Bible Way Church Worldwide.

Bishop Grant conducted bible study over several years at the Department of Health and Human
Services, Public Health Services, FBI, US Archive, The Pentagon, and Howard University Law School. He
touched many lives over his many years of dedicated service.

Bishop Grant was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Gladden, his brother, Harold Grant Jr. and his
brother, Nathaniel Grant. He leaves to cherish his memory his two children Mark Grant and Pamela
Michelle Carson, one daughter-in-law Shandra Grant, one son-in-law Darryl Carson, one brother Kino
Grant, two sister-in laws Lorraine Grant (wife of Harold Grant Jr.) and Pat Grant (wife of Nathaniel
Grant), three grandchildren Nicole Grant, Caitlin Grant and Noelle Carson, three nieces Wenona Ford,
Linda Rucker and Monica Payne, four nephews Bernard Grant, Landon Grant, Pernell Grant, Nathaniel D.
Grant and a host of other relatives and friends.
