Obituary for Joseph Carroll Sebastian Johnson
Joseph, affectionately known as “Joe” “Lil Snooky” after his father, Brother Joe, Uncle Joe, GI Joe, and Papa Joe, was born in Glendale, Maryland, to the late George H. Johnson and Elizabeth A. Johnson. Joe is one of ten siblings and loved hanging out with his brothers and sisters, attending family outings, and any car show events happening in the area.
As time would have it, to our dismay, on Thursday, September 8, 2022, our beloved Joe departed this life after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s and later Cancer. Joe was a true warrior. He loved life, he loved his family, and hung tough for as long as he could; not receiving any cancer treatment yet determined not to let the illnesses get him down, or ruin his day, as he fought till the very end.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, George H. Johnson, his brother George E. Johnson, and recently a dear nephew, Eugene Lee Tate. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Elizabeth A. Johnson, his children, Charmaine Johnson Dorsey, Nalei Kiyabu (Brian), Leina Johnson (Maurice), and Kalei Iokepa Johnson. Nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jacqueline, Noah, Sean, Matthew, Micah, Maulike, Anela, Adiel, and one grandson to be, Makai, due in late October, who Joe was so looking forward to seeing. His siblings, Louis Snowden (Lucille-PD), Faith A. Fennell (Ray), Theresa Ann Johnson-Scott (Derek), Florence A. Phillips (Jerome), Delores Dixon (John-PD), Gerard A. Johnson, Faustina D. Tate (Carl Sr.), and Terrence M. Johnson (Dawn), his Aunt Elizabeth Geraldine Hudson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
