Lila Bing Barton
Lila Barton of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 16, 2022, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Furman, SC, Lila was the daughter to the late Artie Beckett Bing and Julius Bing, Sr. She attended South Carolina State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in early childhood education. She retired from the D.C Public School system after many years of devoted service. Lila loved cooking, gardening, spending time with family, traveling and dedicating spare time and passion to taking care of friends and family.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, brothers, Herbert, Lanuel, Julius, Leo, Gussie James and sisters, Missouri, Tillie Mae, Geneva, and Juanita.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Pamela Moore (Jerry), Jacqueline Bouldin (Tony), Stacy Byrd (Mike); son, Jeffrey Barton; brother, Alphonso Bing; sisters, Nettie Bing, Melva Richardson, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Lila will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, Viewing: 10 a.m., Service 11 a.m. at Riverdale Baptist Church, 1177 Largo Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Lila Barton to the Alzheimer’s Association®.
