Maurice Dewayne Montgomery, of Greenbelt, Maryland was born April 10, 1967, to Walter Starr and Shirley Montgomery. He was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Rachael Marie Montgomery, Lillie Mae Allen, Nathanial Montgomery, George Montgomery, Nettie Montgomery Cochran, Quenton Montgomery, and Leon Michael Cochran

He was a faithful church member of Omega Baptist Church Dayton, Ohio until he relocated to First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Maryland, where he showed the evidence of his works as a “Man of God.”

Maurice graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1986. Throughout high school, Maurice worked at Burger King (1984-1987), McDonalds (1987-1989), Taco Bell (1989-1991), and Kentucky Fried Chicken (1991-1996).

In 1996, Maurice graduated from Central State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. He earned a Master of Education in Special Education in 2007 from Antioch McGregor-Mid West Campus, and in 2008, he completed classes for Principal Administration.

Maurice dedicated 25 years to the field of education. From 1996-2013, Maurice taught at Van Cleve Elementary, Miami Chapel Elementary, Jane Addams Elementary, The Dayton Academy, Colin Powell Leadership Academy, Richard Allen Academy, and The Dayton Business Technology High School.

Maurice embarked on a new chapter in life when he relocated to Prince George's county, Maryland in 2013 and began teaching for Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS). During his time in PGCPS, Maurice worked at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School. He transferred to William Wirt Middle School in 2017. Maurice will be remembered as an educator who loved sharing his knowledge with his beloved students who also enjoyed encouraging teachers who were new to the classroom.

Maurice became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Theta Lambda Chapter on 4/4/1998, and he remained an active member who proudly wore his paraphernalia. He was also a member of the Question Club. What a great friend, brother, uncle and mentor he was! Maurice loved traveling, meeting new people, and did not hesitate to try out new restaurants. He will always be remembered as our FAVORITE CENTRALIAN and the “Life of the Party”. He was truly LOVED and will be MISSED!

He leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Tennetta Starr and Jennifer Starr; nieces, Jessica Montgomery and Jordyn Starr; nephews, Aaron Daniel Montgomery and Jaden Mitchell; Great nephews, Ta’Ron Talley and Ahmad Peoples; Great niece, Will’Livia Palmer; Dear Friends; Shirley Pagan, LaSaundra (Twinkles) Dudley, Rasheda Skelton,Patricia Jenning, Marlin Martin, Kamille Harris, Michelle Gullette, Tammy White, Carmen Tisdale Dyer, April Turner, Mark Sutton, Myra King, Kevin Wright, Antwione Shackelford, Christina White, Lisa Pointer and Daymond & Teri Wilkinson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
