Obituary for Michael T. Scott Sr.

Michael Tyrone Scott Sr., was born in Washington, D.C. on March 23, 1949 to the late Theodore Scott and Mary Brighthaupt. He was the first born of their five children.

Michael was educated in the D.C. Public School System. As a student attending Chamberlain Vocational High School, he was involved in many teams to include football and basketball. He also was a proud member of the Boys & Girls Club Drum and Bugle Corps.

Michael was a devout Catholic, baptized at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. where he served as an Altar Boy and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Michael worked as a maintenance technician for several companies throughout his career. He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan and like his mother he was not a fan of the new name. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and devoted friend to all that knew him. Michael was full of life, laughter and love. He loved to listen to different genres of music to include R&B, Jazz and Funk.

After 73 years of a great life filled with love and laughter. Michael made his transition to his heavenly home on June 13, 2022. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Scott Jr. and Phillip Michael Scott; brothers, Ricardo Scott Sr. and Victor Scott; sister, Bergeta Allen. His memory will be cherished by his children Kirby Scott (Rhonda), Steven Scott (Angela), Michelle “Amina” Rashad (Jamal), Miquitta Scott, Siddiq Adbul-Khabir (Zainab), Tiffani Davis (Aundre), Micheon Gatewood, Ashaan Scott, Angela Bennings (Lamont); his sisters, Theodosia Caver (Val), Pamela Graves (Jeff), Dorethea Woods (Richard); his step-sister Gwen Brighthaupt; his brothers, Clyde Scott Sr., Benjamin Scott (Myra). His family tree includes multiple grands and great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
