Morris Ron Westbury departed this life on April 6, 2022. On May 23, 1945, he was born in Bowman, South Carolina, to Mr. James and Flossie Westbury. Spending most of his adolescent life in St. George, South Carolina, before relocating to Washington, DC.
Morris's life was full of colorful and vibrant milestones. At an early, he joined the Second Providence Baptist Church. In 2001, in his adult life, he joined the First Baptist Church of Highland Park, located in Landover, MD. Morris grew up in St. George, South Carolina, where at the early age of 16, he received his license to become a School Bus Driver from William Memorial High School, where he later graduated in May of 1963. At 20, Morris entered the United States Army at Fort Hollenberg, Baltimore, MD. While in the military, he served in the Vietnam War, later retiring in 1971. He decided that his love for debating would become his passion choosing to take some classes at the George G. Meany Law Center. Morris was a diligent and reliable employee and confidant as a United States Postal worker for 47 years; he served as Chief Shop Steward and President of APWU. He was able to put those law classes into action. Morris contracted litigation negotiations and labor relation cases. After retirement, Morris joined Chapter #3 of the DAV, where he became Commander along with Mr. Wiley Nicolas, his best friend. The two of them were a force to be reckoned with, known to many as the "Attorney's," as with them representing their coworkers, you could be sure to get your just do! The union of Morris and Rosalind Westbury occurred on July 9, 1982.
Morris was a sincere family man. He was known for his excellent debating skills and keen theorizing, lively conversation about politics or just life lessons. He was even heard saying, "I can't let them always be right." A True listener and confidant. If you called on him, he would be right there.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 39 years Rosalind; his two daughters, Maurisa and Trashaun Westbury; grandsons, Jordan Westbury and Jalyn Collinwood, Desmond Billy Westbury and Corey Westbury, sons have gone on to be with the Lord. Morris reared Rayshaudo, Delonte', Janeen Brown, and Shaunda Blaylock. Morris was one of 9 siblings, Frank (Evelyn) Westbury, Cleavon Westbury, Agatha (Edward) Wiles: Sister-in- laws Edwanda (Arnandez) Larkin, Lillian Smith, Vanita Hayes; brothers-in-law: Roger (Carol) Richardson Roscoe (Kim) Samuel and James Green, and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are brothers James Jr, Howard, Hazmond, William Westbury, and Sister Louise Turner.
Extended family and friends are too numerous to name, but joining the family in grieving the loss yet celebrating the life of the one and only Morris Westbury.
