Steven Craig Mack, “Stevie” which he was affectionately called by family, was born April 16, 1959, to Donzella Street Heard and the late Seymour Mack, in Tulsa Oklahoma. As a child, Stevie spent a lot of his time on Latimer Street with his grandmother, the late Alva Street. He enjoyed working with her in the garden and eating their raw vegetables. His grandmother sometimes had to call Stevie indoors just to make him rest himself while she prepared meals. Stevie learned his culinary skills from those prepared meals which he later shared with his family and friends.

On Thursdays, you could always find Stevie delivering the Eagle newspaper which made him very popular around town; “everyone” knew Stevie. He was a friend to all with many endearing stories. Stevie was a natural born jokester who loved pulling pranks on people. He enjoyed hanging out with the boys laughing and joking. He was a true busy body that enjoyed being outdoors and on the move.

Stevie’s mother Donzella and stepfather, the late Harold C. Heard Jr., relocated the family to Los Angeles, CA, in 1970, where he met many new friends. He attended Audubon Junior High School and graduated from Susan Miller Dorsey High School in 1977. Stevie went on to further his education at Virginia State University, in Petersburg, VA. He showed off his LA dancing skills, by going into parties doing the LA bop, with the alias name “Steven 100% Mack.” During his college days, he built many relationships with so many friends in VA. Steve loved to grill and would invite friends and family over, no matter what the weather called for; Steve was out cooking on the grill.

Steve rededicated his life and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Glenarden. He worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA, as a medical transporter.

Steve joined the Masons in 1992. He was a member of Charles Datcher Lodge No. 15., Free & Accepted Masons (F& A.M.), P.H.A. of Washington DC.

Steve will be missed by his mother Donzella Street Heard; his stepmother Pauline Mack; his brothers, Harold “Scoop” III and Terrald Heard, Ramon Price(Angela), Kendell(Lana), Corry(Tammy) and Sheldon Mack; sisters, Tanya Robinson(George), Tina Redricks(Leroy), and Felicia Smith(Steve); two nephews in MD, Shemel and Isaiah Heard; his God children, Tiffany Jenell Birdsong Gunthorpe, Rachel Taback Slater and Genaya Preston; a very special friend of the family Nancy Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and great friends
