Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight... They must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light...

Thomas Jonathan Farmer, Jr. was born in Snow Hill, North Carolina on January 17, 1941 to Thomas and Allena Farmer. He was the eldest of eight siblings.

He was educated in the District of Columbia and graduated from Cardozo High School in June of 1960. His first job out of high school was at the Federal Reserve. He also worked at the Government Printing Office for a time before deciding to embrace his innate entrepreneurial skills and abilities. Farmer shared circles and smiles with some of the city's most prominent figures and entrepreneurs.

A testament to his style and fondness for clothes, he also owned a clothing store, Mr. T's Fashions, for ten years.

Said to have missed his calling as a stand up comedian, Farmer kept you in stitches with his anecdotes and unique sayings. A black and white western could always be found on his tv screen. He loved a good game of cards, especially Coon Can, and was always willing and able to play you under the table. An avid ice chewer, he was a self-proclaimed connoisseur of the city's finest cuisine.

To know Farmer was to know a man with a good heart; a funny, gentle spirit. He was a family man and did his best to ensure that his family and loved ones were taken care of.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Allena Farmer; four siblings: Richard Ward, Althea Farmer, Allene Hayes, and Gerald Farmer and his nephew, Milan Madison.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Gloria Farmer, his loving partner: Gwendolyn Haynie, his daughters: Kelli Farmer, T-Jai Farmer, and Kim Anderson, his grandsons: Sire Thomas Farmer and Anthony Anderson, his bonus son: Jichael Griffin, his siblings: Carl Farmer, Sharon Edwards (John), Connie Hewston (Donald), and Gwen Farmer, his beloved nieces and nephews: Carnell, Tawanna, Kevin, Kim, Carl Jr. (Tia), Monnikka, Kory (Ajia), Carla, Tommia, Shari, Sean (Bianca), Breyan, Alle, Laila, Logan, Isis, Jasmine, Kyla, Kadyn, Collin, Kai, Tyler and a myriad of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
