Thomas Collins Thorne was born on Wednesday, July 29, 1970 in Bethesda, Maryland to Cheryl Mignon Collins Thorne and Thomas Thorne, Jr.

He graduated from H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, DC, Class of 1988. After a semester at NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount NC, Thomas returned to the DC area, where he enlisted in the Army. He served for two years, spending time in Fort Riley, Kansas and Germany, before returning home with an honorable discharge. Thomas also served in the Army National Guard.

Thomas used his military experience and arms training to secure a 25 plus year career in armed protection. He was a Protection Officer at the Department of Labor Building for 18 years, where he protected and served faithfully until the day of his passing.

Thomas was a proud member of John F. Cook Lodge No. 10 PHA in the Jurisdiction of the District of Columbia, where he served as Worshipful Master in 2011. He was also a dedicated member of Thrift Chapter No. 12 Order of the Eastern Star, PHA, where he served as Worthy Patron in 2013-2014 and 2019-2021.

On December 23, 2011, Thomas welcomed his first and only child into the world, Thomas Collins Thorne, Jr (TJ).

On Saturday, May 30, 2015, Thomas married Stephanie Elise Newsome, in an intimate ceremony filled with the love of family and friends.

When TJ, at the age of 4, began to show a love and interest for the sport of baseball, Thomas began a quest to learn everything he could about the sport. He joined the volunteer coaching staff of Mamie Johnson Little League in Ward 7 DC in 2017 and was actively coaching until the day of his passing.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl, who passed on April 8, 2021.

Thomas leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Stephanie and son, Thomas Jr., as well as his mother-in-love, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends, coworkers and especially his Masonic Brothers who were his real ‘Brothers from another Mother’.
