William Edward Thomas, affectionately known as Bubbles, Running Howell, Bill, Willie Howell, and Mr. Willie was born January 4, 1937, in Old Bowie/Huntington, Maryland to the late Eleanor Thomas and Charlie Henson.

Mr. Willie received his education through Prince George’s Public School system and the life of hard knocks to become the best to ever do it. He had a calling to renew his faith and was baptized at Emanuel Baptist Church in Laurel Md. Mr. Willie also had Christian ties to First Christian Church of Laurel and Bowie United Methodist Church.

In March 1965, Mr. Willie was united with Beverly Mae Queen her hand in marriage. And followed God’s words to love each other in Sickness and Health as God Ordained. They were blessed to raise five beautiful children together: Michael (Mike), Renee, Melvin, Howell (Keith) and Mark.

Known as the hardest working man we knew, as a young man Willie Howell traveled the East Coast and Midwest working as a Horseman for numerous Owners and Trainers and retired from the Maryland Jockey Club Association after 35 years of service. Once meeting his true mentor in life Mr. Samuel aka Mr. Slick, he found himself in the construction industry working for George Hyman/Clark Construction company until he fully retired sometime later in life. Some of his true passions were helping his ever-growing community with any task that needed to be accomplished. Raising hunting beagles, hunting all wild game, and producing home grown garden vegetables and fruits for people all around the world to share in his harvest. A PT Cruiser fanatic, he named his car Mr. Willie’s Toy and had all the after-market accessories he could add to the vehicle, often promising all his grandchildren ownership of it someday. He often traveled to Car shows and received numerous trophies and awards. He loved watching all Wrestling programs and Westerns. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his beloved Football Team the Washington Redskins (aka) Washington Football Team, Commanders and as we would say the Commandos. Hoping for victory over Dallas Cowboys (boo) and another trip to the Super Bowl in his lifetime

Mr. Willie entered eternal rest on Friday, July 15, 2022. He was preceded in death by his Wife Beverly Mae, Charles Thomas (Hooks-Brother), Helen Smith (Sister), Junior Queen (Brother-in-Law), Bobby Queen (Brother-in-Law), Mike Queen (Son), Dwight Harrison (Mickey-Brother-in-Law) and his Loving Friend Ms. Kay Wallace.

Mr. Willie’s life is truly a blessing and a great treasure to his family. His loss is mourned by his Three Sons, Melvin (Thulisile), Howell, Mark and his Daughter, Renee; Siblings, Clarence Thomas, Mary (Catherine) Harrison; Grandchildren (Marcus, Matthew, Evelyn, Keith, Kia, Ashley, Devon, Kiara, Keisha, Tyler, Twins Anthony and Andrew, Aidan and Ava); 8 Great-Grandchildren.; Brother-in-Law, Oliver Dobbins; Sisters-in-Law, Joanne Dobbins, Betty Queen; Special Daughter, Marisa Thomas and host of his Favorite Nieces, Nephews, Honorary Adopted Son Ken Zaucha. Also, a host Friends throughout the world because he shared his heart with all who he met.
