Willie, better known as “Boo Boo” to his family or “Walker” to others, was born February 1, 1937 to the late Arthur and Johnnie Walker and was raised in Columbus, Georgia. Walker joined the U.S. Air Force at an early age and served domestically in Texas, Alabama (twice), Delaware, Alaska, and Nebraska and overseas in Japan (twice), France, and Germany. He met his wife of 55 years, Minnie (nee Cooper), while stationed in Alabama. After Walker retired from the Air Force in 1976, the family settled in Hyattsville, Maryland. Walker accepted a position at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.

Walker maintained an active social life in retirement; there was never a Bingo game or casinos that he didn’t like! He also loved to play cards, barbeque on the holidays, visit family in New York, watch sports, and get together with friends, including monthly breakfasts with former coworkers. Walker passed away September 1, 2022 after battling illness. He is survived by his wife, Minnie (MD); two daughters (Phyllis Walker (MD), Bridgette Walker and son-in-law James Johnson (who reside overseas, currently in Tajikistan)); sisters Mary Jackson (DE) and Arnetia Walker Francis (NV); in-laws Elward and Edna Daniel (NC), Maurice Todd (MD); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
