A Dedicated, Passionate Educator, 30+ years of service and substitute teaching in DC Public Schools. Born and raised in Washington, DC (Washingtonian)

Zilphry " Zalphry" Jacqueline Randolph was born in Washington, DC on November 03, 1950 at DC General Hospital to James Robert Randolph Sr., and Martha Beatrice (Claggett) Randolph. She became a part of a very loving, tight-knit family, the seventh of ten children with three brothers and six sisters who often spoke highly about and adored as she would often share her great childhood memories with her one and only daughter. She always knew at a very young age that she wanted to be a school teacher when she became an adult and she achieved her ultimate dream. After attending and graduating Eastern Senior High School in 1970, she was accepted into the District of Columbia Teachers College (now known as the University of the District of Columbia/UDC) where she earned her bachelor's degree in teaching with a concentration in History in 1975. From there, she commenced a federal government career with the Library of Congress (LOC). Shortly after landing a lucrative job with the federal government, she met the love of her life, Mr. Haskell Perry Caldwell, in which they will later on form a union with another and share one daughter, Shana Renee Caldwell. Unfortunately, Ms. Randolph lost her soulmate in April 1988. Just a couple of years after losing her true soulmate, she would leave the federal government to become a substitute teacher with the District of Columbia Public Schools. She covered a plethora of classes and curriculum ranging from Social Science, Mathematics, American History, English, and many more. She enjoyed educating the next generations that were expected to be next generation of leaders, teachers, lawyers, doctors, etc. She would often say that " Education starts in the home, it is everyone's foundation". Ms. Randolph also stayed connected with her Christianity by being a devoted woman of God, as she was raised within the Roman Catholic Church. During the 1980's, she became a dedicated member of the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) Church located in Fort Washington, MD.

Ms. Randolph is survived by one brother Steven Randolph and one sister Eloise Martin. She has heavenly joined her other siblings; Doris Jennings, Melva Robinson, James Robert Randolph Jr., Sandra Randolph, Patricia Haggins, Deborah Ann Robinson, and Maurice Randolph.
